Case Study 1
These cases went smoothly from diagnosis to final restoration. I was pleased with the outcomes clinically and aesthetically, and the patients were very happy with the result. It was a rewarding reminder of how effective communication and attention to detail can lead to a positive experience for both patient and operator.

This patient presented with symptoms of reversible pulpitis (short lasting sensitivity to cold) from LL6 with secondary caries beneath an existing GIC, adjacent to an occlusal amalgam.

Isolation
As there was no marginal ridge loss, single tooth rubber dam isolation was sufficient. Usually I do multiple teeth to aid visualisation and access for proximal regions. I like using winged clamps where I place the rubber dam sheet and clamp all in one go, but more recently I’ve been placing wingless clamps followed by the rubber dam sheet.

Existing restoration & caries removal
I use a highspeed and 541 to remove the restorations and open up the carious lesion. I used caries dye to assist accurate and conservative clearance.

Polishing
I go with cusp by cusp build up to recreate occlusal morphology. Followed by rugby ball and white stone polishing.

The Final Result
Apologies for my out of focus photography! It was one of my first times using my new camera.
